Tucker Lapel Pin Quesion

Postby rodness827 » Sun Jun 25, 2006 9:05 pm

About 10 years ago I bought a Tucker lapel pin at a swap meet. It is very small...smaller than a dime. The post for the pin is threaded and the 'keeper' is a small knurled nut type of thing. It looks to be gold, and the Tucker crest is colored...maybe that cloisoine stuff, and there is a hallmark on the back. I have always loved Tuckers and have seen 4 different cars at one time or another. The guy I bought it from said it was a pin used by Tucker execs. I usually don't believe much from swappers, but he was a small time guy with a lot of original appearing stuff. I am wondering if anyone has ever heard of such a thing, and if anyone can help me with some history.

Thanks,

Rod

Rod-

There was a lapel pin (and cufflinks) made by AdCraft and were available to Tucker Dealers and Distributors. There have been TONS of reproductions made over the years, but the easiest way to tell if it is authentic is the originals were approximately 1/2" tall whereas the repros are closer to 1 inch.

Sounds like you have the real deal with the sixze you describe and the threaded post. This is a fairly rare piece and it's probably worth a few hundred dollars.

Thanks very much for the information. I have tried to get some background on it for years, with no luck. In case there is interest, I pulled out the magnifying glass, and the hallmark on the back reads:

NEYHING (maybe NEYRING )
BROS
DETROIT

The text is very small as I am sure you can imagine.

I'll have to decide if I want to hold or sell, but if I decide to sell, I'll make this forum aware.

Thanks again,

Rod
